Joel Singer, CEO of RE FormsNet/ZipForm Receives NAR's Prestigious Magel Award

Orlando, Fla. – November 8, 2002 – Joel Singer, executive vice president of the California Association of Realtors®, has been presented the coveted William R. Magel Award of Excellence for 2004 by the National Association of Realtors®.

The award is given annually to a person who has excelled in the role of association executive of a local or state association of Realtors® and who is active in the Realtor® Organization. The award was established in 1983 to honor the memory of William R. Magel, who served the Realtor® Organization 22 years.

Singer has held the top staff position at CAR since November 1989 after serving as CAR's chief economist and heading the association's public affairs department. As head of the CAR research department, he established CAR's industrywide reputation for economic forecasting, industry research and leading edge technology studies. Along with current NAR President Walt McDonald, Singer was instrumental in developing Real Estate Business Services Inc. (REBS), CAR's for-profit subsidiary, and serves as the company's president.

He also is president and chief executive officer of RE FormsNet, the CAR-NAR joint venture which is now North America's leading provider of electronic forms software for the real estate industry through its Zipform and Winform products. Since inception 10 years ago, these business entities have grown to more than $20 million in annual revenues.

Singer joined CAR in 1978. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA, where he also attended graduate school and taught. He was a Fulbright scholar at Albert-Ludwigs Universitaet in Freiburg, Germany.

2004 NAR President McDonald, broker-owner of Walt McDonald Real Estate, Riverside, Calif., and former president of CAR, presented the award to Singer at the four-day 2004 REALTORS® Conference & Expo that ends here today.

"Joel is one of the most dedicated people I've ever known in real estate. His tireless work, his commitment to duty and his innovation are exemplary in the real estate industry. His drive and devotion to the real estate organization have propelled the California association to a great level of excellence. I'm proud to have served with him," said McDonald.

Singer has been married to his wife, Karen, for 28 years. He is the father of two grown children.

The National Association of Realtors®, "The Voice for Real Estate," is America's largest trade association, representing 1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
