ZipFormDesktop or ZipFormOnline?

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the system requirements to use ZipFormOnline?

Most newer computers are capable of running ZipFormOnline. With ZipFormOnline it's mainly about Internet access speed. While it is possible to dial up with a minimum 56K modem connection, you'll often connect at a slower actual speed than your modem's rated speed. So if you are connecting with a 56K modem, the quality of the line you're using, the service provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the amount of current Internet traffic may cause undesirable results. Therefore, a "broadband" connection such as Cable, DSL, T1 or ISDN is highly recommended.

The minimum requirements for ZipFormOnline are: a personal computer with a Pentium II or comparable processor, Windows 2000 or XP, 128 MB RAM, 20MB available hard disk space, SVGA monitor, video card supporting at least 800 x 600 resolution and 256 colors, Internet Explorer 5.5 or later (with "cookies" enabled) and a Windows-compatible printer.

  2. I already use ZipFormDesktop. Why would I want to use ZipFormOnline?

ZipFormOnline frees you from the confines of your desktop computer and allows you to experience the flexibility and mobility that only an online solution can offer. Don't have a laptop? Forgot your contracts at home? Working on a contract with someone on the other side of the state? These scenarios are no longer a problem with ZipFormOnline because you can create and access transactions from multiple locations anytime, anywhere in the world via the Internet.

  3. I am not very technical; will ZipFormOnline be hard to learn?

ZipFormOnline is very easy to learn and there is free online help and free phone technical support available, as well as an Interactive Training CD available for purchase to assist you in learning ZipFormOnline.

  4. I am an office administrator with multiple users on a network. Will ZipFormOnline work for me?

ZipFormOnline works extremely well for users in a network environment. It is Internet-based so the network configuration issues that often cause problems when installing other software are virtually eliminated. In addition, ZipFormOnline offers a sophisticated administrative interface that allows a broker or administrator to set up global templates and clauses as well as offering reporting and administrative features.

  5. With ZipFormOnline, will I still require ZipFormDesktop?

ZipFormOnline has been designed to work as a standalone product for your real estate form needs, however, it does require an Internet connection. Transactions created with ZipFormOnline can be easily exported from the Internet to your local computer and accessed with your ZipFormDesktop. Conversely, transactions created in ZipFormDesktop can also be seamlessly uploaded to the Internet and used with ZipFormOnline. Using both of these together gives the user the ultimate in flexibility, both online and offline.
Manage all of your users from a central point, anywhere that an Internet connection is available.

  6. How do I know that my forms are up to date?

With ZipFormOnline, you can always be assured that you are working with the most up-to-date forms. Whenever you log-in to ZipFormOnline, your form library will automatically be checked against our online database to ensure that it is current.

  7. Can I e-mail transactions to my clients?

ZipFormOnline utilizes web-based e-mail so that sending transactions to clients has never been easier. Simply click on the e-mail icon, fill in the recipient's e-mail address and hit send. Since the e-mail system is web-based there are none of the configuration problems that are seen with non-MAPI-compliant e-mail clients such as AOL.

  8. I don't want to take the time to download while I am at my client's computer. Is there any way I can access ZipFormOnline transactions without downloading anything?

Your ZipFormOnline license allows you to create copies of the form viewer. You may burn this to a CD and carry it with you. If you need to access transactions on a computer other than your own, you may simply install the viewer off of the CD, log onto ZipFormOnline at www.zipformonline.com and access your transactions.

  9. My broker doesn't use ZipForm products. Can I purchase ZipFormOnline for myself?

ZipFormOnline is available for purchase by anyone. Point your web browser to www.zipform.com and click on the link to purchase. Have your credit card handy and you can have access to your forms and begin creating transactions within minutes.

  10. Can I use ZipFormOnline without an Internet connection?

Due to its Internet-based design, ZipFormOnline does require an Internet connection. However, when they are not connected to the Internet, users with ZipFormDesktop will be able to store their ZipFormOnline transactions to their local computer's hard drive and access them with ZipFormDesktop. This allows the user complete flexibility.

  11. Where are my transactions stored?

Your transactions are stored at a commercial-grade hosting facility. We utilize a state-of-the-art hosting provider to ensure that you have secure and reliable access to ZipFormOnline as well as your transaction data.

  12. What is "broadband"?

This term is a reference to the speed of your connection to the Internet. Originally, "broadband" meant a coaxial cable modem connection, but now it's generally used to describe any connection that's faster than you can dial up with a modem.

Some examples of fast (broadband) connections are Digital Subscriber Line ("DSL"), Integrated Services Digital Network ("ISDN"), cable modem, and "T1" connections that you may find in your office.

  13. Do I require a broadband connection for ZipformOnline?

A broadband connection is strongly recommended.

You can dial up with a minimum 56K modem, but when when you use a modem that's rated for 56K, you often get a slower actual connection (like between 33K and 38K). Your actual speed depends on the quality of the phone line you're using, the service provided by your Internet Service Provider ("ISP") and the amount of current Internet traffic. You can check the actual connect speed while you're dialed up by right-clicking on the connection icon in your system tray when you're modem is connected.

  14. Will I need to download or install anything?

When logging in to ZipFormOnline for the first time, you will be required to download and install the Form Viewer. This install is about 8.5MB. At broadband speeds this download takes just a few minutes. With an actual dial-up connect speed of 36K, it'll take about 35 minutes.
